Following the successful launch of the initiative at the TEFAF art fair in Maastricht earlier in 2023, Art Advisor and dealer Mercè Valderrey and the Athena Art Foundation held its second Women in Museums Network event in New York City, organized in collaboration with New York art dealers Mireille Mosler and Jill Newhouse.
Women in Museums is networking event created for professional women in the art field, including museum professionals such as curators and museum directors, as well as other professional women occupying various roles across the art industry. This event provides a platform for women from diverse positions to come together as a community. It offers an opportunity to build valuable connections, exchange experiences, and cultivate potential collaborations.
This second event in New York City, held on May 11 coinciding with the preview day of the TEFAF art fair, attracted a similarly diverse range of professionals as the inaugural event in Maastricht, including curators of world-class museums, private collectors, gallerists, art dealers, and other experts. The presence of prominent private collectors, philanthropists and museum trustees was particularly noteworthy, highlighting the growing recognition of the important role that women play in shaping the art world.
